Introduction of Late-Night Service For Foot Passen |
13/05/2004 |
Gozo Channel Company is announcing that as from Thursday the 13th May 2004 it will be operating a late-night service so as to facilitate accommodation arrangements in Gozo for such tourists wishing to spend their holiday in Gozo. This service is intended solely for foot passengers and will enable tourists to proceed directly to Gozo on the night of their arrival to and departure from the islands.
The service will leave Mgarr at 2am, 3.30am and Cirkewwa at 2.30am and 4am.
The introduction of this service comes as a direct result of a suggestion forwarded by the Gozo Tourism Association to the government in an effort to improve the Gozitan tourist industry.
The government will be subsiding the difference between the LM 3.00 ticket cost and the actual cost of the trip.
This service will not supplement the current schedule that will remain in force until the 27th of June 2004, but will serve rather to enhance its efficiency in providing an improved service.
While in the past this Late-Night service would have required commuters to pre-book their tickets with the Gozo Tourism Association, the Company, following an assessment of that arrangement, has deemed it quite unsuited in terms of planning occasional. A more structured and better-defined Night service Schedule was seen as the solution.
The Company firmly believes that this arrangement will better suit all interested parties.
Further more, Gozo Channel Company Limited will, in the immediate future, be introducing a number of measures to encourage the Maltese and tourist to visit the island of Gozo. Such measures as are to be announced shortly will be tailored towards the leisure traveler as well as the business traveler.
