Changes in Friday Afternoon Sailings Time 04/03/2005

During the coming two weeks, the MV Ta’ Pinu will be out of operation, due to its annual docking at the Malta Shipyards. With only two vessels performing the scheduled trips, it will thus not be possible for the Company to perform extra trips and will have to adhere to the scheduled times.

Having identified a period of heavier traffic on Fridays in the early afternoon, the Company has decided to modify the timings of the scheduled sailings during that period in order to accommodate the increased influx of cars crossing over to Gozo at that time thereby reducing waiting time.

Between 12:00 and 15:00 hours, four scheduled trips are normally performed on the hour from Mgarr. The Friday trips during the forthcoming two weeks be performed every 45 minutes (12:00, 12:45, 13:30, 14:15 and 15:00 hours), thus fitting in an extra trip during that period. The corresponding trips from Cirkewwa shall leave at 12:45, 13:30, 14:15, 15:00 and 15:45 hours instead of on the three quarters of the hour.

We would also like to remind our customers that during this period and also when heavy traffic is experienced, the MV Malita will be operating with both hoistable decks down, in order to satisfy the heavy demand prevailing at that time. During such trips, vehicles with a height of over 2.3 metres will not be allowed to board. Thus, when heavy traffic is anticipated, customers with such vehicles should preferably phone our offices on Tel. No. 21561622 to check queuing time and which vessel is operating on particular trips.
