Following consultations with Gozitan representative associations, the Ministry for Investment, Industry and IT and the Ministry for Gozo, Gozo Channel Company Limited has decided that its Summer operating schedule will start one week earlier than usual, that is from the 20th June 2005, instead of the 27th June 2005. The Summer schedule will run till the 25th of September.
This means that the number of round trips will increase from 22 to 28 daily, one week earlier than previous years. Therefore the number of weeks with the Summer schedule will be extended from 13 to 14. Furthermore, the accessibility of the island of Gozo will be enhanced both because the service will be operating round the clock, and because the frequency of trips between 06:00 hours and 21:45 hours will be every 45 minutes.
Speaking about the earlier introduction of the Summer schedule, Gozo Channel’s Chairman Mr Maurice Zarb Adami stated that “the earlier start to the Summer schedule should help the Gozitan economy by making Gozo more accessible, both by increasing the number of trips daily and by having trips all throughout the night.”
