CARRIAGE OF HAY, STRAW OR BHUSA UN1327
Carriage of hay, straw or bhusa UN1327 is considered as a dangerous goods issue according to International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code. This type of cargo is liable to spontaneous combustion when wet damp or contaminated with water. According to this code this type of cargo can only be carried on M.V. Gaudos since the vessel is equipped to carry cargoes listed in the IMDG code. Information regarding the carriage of hay is in IMDG Code Volume 2 page 57. The Master will refuse to load such cargo when loose, damp, wet or contaminated with oil. Unless carried in closed cargo transport units, bales shall be properly covered by tarpaulins or the like.
Therefore hay will only be loaded only on M.V. Gaudos on scheduled Dangerous goods trips. Loading dangerous goods have to be pre booked.
