Gozo Channel for Commuters
Gozo Channel (Operations) Ltd operate a 24-hour service, all year round, between Ċirkewwa (Malta) and Mġarr (Gozo), subject to favourable weather and operational conditions. The schedule is updated periodically and all our ferries carry both foot passengers as well as vehicles.
The Gozo Channel ferry ticket is valid both for the outbound and the return journeys and can be used for one round trip during its period of validity (the standard non-subsidised ticket is valid for one round trip and can be used within six months from the date of purchase). The non-subsidised, standard tickets may be purchased either online or from the Mġarr (Gozo) passenger terminal or the Mġarr vehicle ticket booths, before embarking on the start journey from Gozo/return journey to Malta. All ticket types purchased at the ticket booths or online, are only validated from Mġarr (Gozo) before embarking on the start/return journey.
Foot passengers who start their journey from Malta, will go through the passenger terminal at Cirkewwa and Gozo Channel staff will guide them for embarkation. Foot passenger tickets as well as vehicle + driver tickets, whether purchased online or from the ticket booths, are only validated at the Gozo terminal or at the vehicle ticket booths, on the return/start journey. Gozo Channel does not operate a reservations system and embarkation is on a first come, first served basis. Adults travelling with infants (0-3) years MUST ask for the infant free tickets from the Gozo Channel ticket booths and validate the tickets at Mġarr-Gozo on the start/return journey. Permanent Residents who are Senior Citizens (60+) and who present a valid ID card, as well as passengers who present a valid EU Disability card at the ticket booths, travel for free, however, passengers must still be in possession of the free ticket to be able to embark the ferry. The individual free passenger ticket can only be obtained at the ticket booths, upon presentation of the requested documents, and must be validated before embarkation. This is a legal requirement that allows the Company to have the correct headcount of every sailing.
The Gozo Channel online ticketing system is currently accessible for Government Departments, Tour Operators and commuters purchasing non-subsidised tickets. Passengers can also purchase ferry tickets from Gozo Channel’s passenger terminals or from the vehicle ticket booths that are situated in Mġarr (Gozo), before embarkation.
